Garry Maddox - Drew Katz Celebrity Bowling Classic

The Celebrity Bowling Classic’s charitable tradition of competition and camaraderie is more than just a chance to knock down pins and meet celebrities; since Drew joined Garry as a co-host 17 years ago, the Foundation has helped to generate more than five million dollars for its nonprofit beneficiaries.

How it began

The Celebrity Bowling Classic began in the 1970s when, shortly after being traded to the Phillies from the Giants, Garry Maddox responded to a request to visit a child at a local hospital. Volunteering his time soon turned into a commitment to raising funds, and the Celebrity Bowling Classic was born.

Compete 360 is an organization founded by Garry Maddox to support the education and development of urban youth. Its mission is to cultivate a design-thinking practice in under-resourced city schools, helping students engage in hands-on, inquiry-driven learning. To learn more, visit www.Compete360.org.
